Why you should always stay on top of your work!

It's 11pm, your history test's tomorrow, you have an essay due on Friday and are 2 weeks behind on maths homework. Sound familiar? Everyones (especially me) has been there. The constant tedious high school work seems endless and almost impossible to keep up with once you've fallen behind. The thing is though, staying on top of your work doesn't mean you have to be the perfect, stress-free student to do so; It's about giving yourself room to focus on something other than school.
Falling behind snowballs fast and I know this all too well. Missing one bit of homework is easy to shrug off, but when it turns into starting an assignment due the next day based on topics you have no idea about, it can put you into full-fledged panick mode. Schoolwork builds on itself, especially subjects like maths and science. Once you're behind, catching up takes so much more energy than staying caught up in the first place.
Your future self will thank you for staying organised. School life becomes so much more managable when you don't have to pull all nighters before every exam. Ultimately this results in less anxiety and actually understanding the material rather than memorising it just for a test and forgetting it a week later. And that understanding actually matters, especially if you're planning to study it later in life whether that be university or other studies.
Not only does staying on top of work help your grades, it helps so many more aspects of your life. Instead of scrambling to finish overdue homework, you get your evenings back. You can hang out with friends, play sports, work a part-time job, or even just relax, stress free without that cloud of guilt following you around. How the hell can you actually manage this though??
Small habits beat big pushes. Just 10 minutes a day reviewing some notes, finishing that last part of homework and calendarising everything can really bring you a long way for an (almost) stress free school life.
