Why the first week of school is so important

The first week of a new term might not seem like a big deal, but it can make a huge difference to how the rest of your term goes. It’s your chance to get back into a routine, meet your teachers, and understand what’s expected before the workload starts to build up. If you pay attention, write down important dates, and stay organised from the beginning, you'll be much less likely to fall behind later.

It can be tempting to think, "I'll catch up next week," but that's how small tasks quickly become big ones. Before you know it, you're trying to keep up with missed work while everyone else is moving forward. Starting strong doesn't mean being perfect. It just means giving yourself the best chance to succeed.

Use the first week to ask questions if you're unsure, organise your notes, and set yourself some simple goals for the term. These small habits can save you a lot of stress later on.

Remember, every term is a fresh start. No matter how last term went, this is your opportunity to begin again with a positive mindset. Make the most of week one, and your future self will definitely thank you for it.
