Why having a balance can actually improve your grades

Having a balanced lifestyle is one of the most important and beneficial things a student can do. It can be easy to fall into the trap of studying all the time as exams approach the pressure and stress of it can make the student feel more motivated to study for longer sessions and have less brakes. This however, can be more detrimental than beneficial in the long run. Not allowing yourself breaks or social outings can not only isolate the student but can also lead to burn out. Having breaks, exercising, eating well and socialising are all apart of balanced and healthy lifestyle and without it your body and brain are suffering, which can lead to feeling exhausted and unmotivated which will make the student not want to study and often feel more stressed as exams approach.

Making a plan can be help full to minimise the student from feeling overwhelmed or pressured to give up important aspects of their lives. Breaking down study sessions over a few days and really understanding what needs to be learn and understood can help the work not only feel more manageable, which minimised stress, but actually be more manageable. By breaking down the work load the student is often more productive as they know what they need to do straight away. This allows them to study smarter not harder.

Taking a break is most effective when the student steps away from their work space. Hopeful they have a designated study area so when they take a break they are not reminded by their study material being out. Physically stepping away, to exercise or socialise is often the best way to have a break as it allows your brain to focus on easier things this allows your mind to rest. If the student remains at the desk they can often subconsciously be thinking about their next task which is not a true break away from studying.
