Why football (soccer) is the greatest sport

Football is by far the greatest sport in human history that we have so far invented.
"How can you be so sure?", you may ask. On the surface it sounds like quite a forward opinion for a topic so subjective. Nonetheless, I believe that I can justify football being the most popular global sport by far - boasting around 3.5 billion followers and fans.
Football is the most attractive and accessible sport, immediately evident through its unparalleled diversity in fans. It is the national sport of many different nations such as Brazil, the UK, France, Germany, Argentina, Spain, Egypt, Senegal, Ghana, Russia and many more.
How is football so popular? Is it because it has existed for a long time? Not quite. Although football is an old sport, around one and a half centuries old, it is not in the same conversation as cricket or rugby which have existed for much longer. The reason for football's global domination is that it is accessible. It is extremely easy to play, with only a few easy rules (besides the controversiality of offside rules in the modern game). It also requires much less equipment than other sports. All one needs to play is a flat-ish area and some markers for the goals and edges of the field, as well as a ball of course! Basketball, in comparison, requires a hard surface with markings, a specially made hoop and a specific type of ball.
Football is easy to learn yet hard to master. It is so universally loved that it generates the most revenue out of any other sport. International tournaments such as the Euros, the World Cup, etc. act almost like holidays for entire nations, while clubs compete at the top flight across Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
Everyone is a football fan. Everyone has a favourite club and player. Everyone appreciates the gravity of this sport. Football is easily the most popular and the greatest sport in human history, whether it be the World Cup or Champions League Final, or a simple kick around at the local park.
