Why a little study during the school holidays can go a long way

When the school holidays finally arrive, the last thing most students want to think about is studying. After a busy term of assignments, exams and early mornings, having a proper break is definitely important. But completely switching off from school for weeks can sometimes make going back much harder than it needs to be.
This doesn't mean spending your holidays sitting at a desk for hours every day. Even a small amount of revision can help keep everything fresh. Reading for half an hour, doing a few math questions or going over something you struggled with during the term can make a big difference.
The holidays are also a great opportunity to catch up without the usual pressure of school. During the term, it can feel like there is always another assignment or test around the corner. In the holidays, you can finally spend some time on those topics you never completely understood without worrying about what is due tomorrow.
This can be especially helpful for students preparing for important years like 11 and 12 or exams such as the selective high school test. Keeping up a small study routine means you aren't trying to get your brain back into study mode on the first day of school.
Tutoring over the holidays can also be useful because there is more time to focus on weaker areas or even get a head start on what is coming next term.
Of course, holidays are still meant to be enjoyed. See your friends, sleep in, go away and take a proper break. The goal isn't to turn your holidays into another school term. It's simply about finding a balance. A little bit of effort throughout the break can make returning to school much easier and help you start the next term feeling prepared instead of already being behind.
