There's No Rush to Get There

We live in a world where everyone seems to be in a rush.

Finish school. Get good marks. Choose a career. Have everything figured out.

But honestly, who decided there was a timeline for all of this?

Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to be ahead that we forget to appreciate where we are. We compare our progress to other people and wonder why they seem to understand things faster, achieve more or have everything sorted.

The truth is, everyone is figuring things out as they go.

Learning is a good example of this. Some topics might make sense straight away, while others take a little longer. You might watch someone else answer a question easily and think, "Why can't I do that?". But you don't see how many times they may have practiced before getting there.

There is nothing wrong with taking your time.

You don't have to understand everything immediately. You don't have to have all the answers and you definitely don't have to compare your journey to someone else's.

Sometimes progress is obvious, like getting a great mark or finally understanding a difficult topic. Other times, it's much quieter. It's choosing to try again after getting something wrong. It's asking a question when you're confused. It's opening the book even when you really don't feel like it.

Those things count too.

So if you feel like you're falling behind, take a breath. You are not running someone else's race.

Keep learning. Keep showing up. Take the time you need.

You'll get there!
