Staying focused in exams and exam block periods

Exam periods, even exams themselves are often treated like a sprint. Study, sit exam relax. But when exams in Y11 and 12 stretch across 3/4 weeks, they are much more like a marathon. Staying focused, motivated and calm across the entire period requries more than just studying harder.
1. Pace yourself. One of the biggest mistakes stduents make is exhusting themselves in the first week. Instead of considering the exam block as a whole, focus on the exam in front of you. break study into manaegable dialy goals, and prioritise subjects coming up first. a realistic plan that you can maintian for several weeks is far more effective than an intense schedule that leads to burnout.

2. protect your breaks. rest is part of effective studying, not time wasted. schedule proper breaks, maintina regular sleep, eat well and make time to exercise or get outside. After ifnishing exam give yourself a short period to reset before moving onto the next. Your energy is always better directed to what comes next.

3. Keep motivation going
of course, your motivaiton will naturally fluctuate aross a long exam period, so dont rely on feeling motivated before you begin. Create small, specific goals, finish one practice paper at a time. setting yourself, and complleing achieveblae tasks will create momentum and make an ovewheleming workload feel manageneble.

these odeas apply not just to the exam block, but to the exam itself. Dont hink, "i still have two hours to go" just focus on the quesiton directl in front of you. as you turn the page, reset, take a deep breath and treat every question as a fresh start for you to apply your knowledge.

ultimatley, suevigin a long exam block isnt about maintianing maximum intensity for weeks, but rather about consistency, recoveery and learning to reset. one day, and one question at a time!
