Preparing for the HSC

HSC begins in one week!!!

Even thoughit is normal to start feeling the pressure and stressed abit the HSC begininning in 168 hours, there is still enough time to focus on your studyies. It is important to remember that effective preperation is more valuable than studying for extreme hours, trying to fit in every topic one last time.

The first step is to take a step back. Spend some time f your day going for a walk to clear your head, or participating in an activity that helps to relevie stress such as the gym or reading a book. Clearing your mind will help you focus on your work when you get back into studying.

If you havent already, revising our study timetable and creting achievable goals would break the enourmous feeling of the HSC into simple and easy to complete activities, makig your study feel effective and not overloading. It is imprtant to allocate times for each subject equally as well as times for breaks and de-stressing periods. It is also important to study for the most recent exam, English, even though you may prefer maths or one of the sciences.

Continue on completing past HSC practice papers, as well as some trial papers to have a feel on the type of questions and the broad range of difficulty for some questions. It is important to practice some exams under strict time conditions, especially for the 3 hour sessions, as it would help your mind and body train for the exams during the HSC. Thoruougly mark your exams and be harsh with the marking. This will help reveal what you need to be focusing on to prepare for the HSC. For example, you might have to revise conditional propability and not the whole topic.

Finally, good luck with your exams. Do the best for yourself and don't feel bad if the exam is hard. You are in the same boat as everyone going to your next destination.
