Preparing for HSC

The HSC can feel overwhelming, like all of your years of high school have culminated in this month of exams. The good news is that you have already done the hard work, trials completed, graduation celebrated, now the final step is the last exam for each subject. Build confidence from the fact that you have already been able to complete each of the exams in conditions during trials, you have spent the year in class learning the content and doing too many practice papers applying your knowledge. This final step is putting all of this onto the final HSC papers and managing the final step without getting overwhelmed.

The week of graduation is filled with final celebrations, spending time with friends and creating memories that you will always remember when you look back on your schooling experience. Make the most of these moments, have a week of enjoyment without guilt. I would recommend studying where you can, maybe an hour or two a day when possible. Once this week is done, it is time to lock in for HSC.

Try and break up your study days with lots of breaks, having a plan of what you need to get done and when. Studying at a library with friends nearby is a great way to maintain a social connection while still getting productive work done. Using one another to help study is so beneficial, bouncing ideas and learning unique perspectives you might not have thought of is an amazing way to build on from trials.

Creating a study schedule is also an easy way to stay on track and motivated in the final stretch. Prioritise what needs to be done for each subject and how much time that might take. Assign more time to the subjects that need the most attention and keep each day different. This might look like a mix of english, maths and bio one day, and history, english and technology another day. This makes it easier to stay focused rather than getting bored doing the same content over and over.

Best of luck, stay focused and enjoy the final bit of the year!
