Trials can be a daunting period for both students and parents. Between all the constant stress, late night study session, and the immense pressure to do well, it can definitely be a challenging time for everyone. Students want to perform at their best and show everything they have learnt through the year, while parents want to support and encourage them in every way that they can.
It's also important to remember that trial exams are known for being notoriously harder than the HSC exam itself. You have less time to revise, you are still trying to balance learning new content in class while sitting the exams and everything else! So, if you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, know that it is COMPLETELY normal!
Most importantly, trials are not the be all and end all. they are an opportunity to see where you are currently at, identify any areas for improvement, apply feedback, and experience what the HSC exam really feels like. There called Trials for a reason, there designed to prepare you for your final exam in October!
Once your 2-week trial period is over, make sure you five yourself a chance to recharge. Taking a short break is important to prevent burnout, but that does not mean stopping all together. It means you keep your notes organised, stay enngaged in class, and continue to slowly revise consistently. You dont need to be putting in the same amount of hours and you would be preparing for the trials, but you still should be keeping up to date. The work you do between the trials and the HSC is often where the biggest improvement happen.
